CHICO, Calif. -

A Chico woman reported being kidnapped while loading groceries into her car.

It happened in the parking lot of the Safeway on Mangrove Avenue at about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police say the victim told her family she was going shopping and never made it home.

Officers found the victim's wallet and cell phone in her vehicle, but she could not be located. Surveillance video showed her exiting the store at 8:58 a.m. She was later spotted walking along W. First Avenue.

The victim told police somebody put something over her face. She said she then remembered walking in a wooded area before arriving downtown. Officers believe she may have been drugged and taken to the Bidwell Park area.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Her name has not been released.
