A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say he pointed a loaded pistol at a person during an argument.
Police were called to the Safeway supermarket on Pine Street just before 12:30 p.m. after an employee reported seeing two men arguing in the parking lot, one of whom had a gun.
According to police 26-year-old James Noyes pointed a gun at the man he was arguing with before leaving the parking lot on a white beach-cruiser style bicycle. Noyes was seen riding the bicycle on Parkview Avenue near Leland Avenue when he was stopped by Redding police. Officers found a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in Noyes’ backpack.
Due to the search for the suspect Cypress Elementary and Juniper Elementary schools were locked down.
Noyes was booked into the Shasta County Jail for illegally carrying a loaded firearm and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
The other person involved has not been located. Anyone with further information should contact the Redding Police Department immediately at 530-225-4200.
