RED BLUFF, Calif. -

The man accused of killing a Red Bluff teen was back in court this afternoon.

Quentin Bealer was brought out of his Tehama County jail cell for a change of venue motion to be heard in front of a judge.

Bealer is accused of murdering 14-year-old Marysa Nichols in February of 2013. The teen’s body was found in a field behind Red Bluff High School.

Bealer’s defense attorney, Shon Northam told the judge his office is working on analysis of local news coverage centering on his client’s case. Northam believes his client could never receive a fair trial in Red Bluff because of sizable TV and newspaper coverage of this case.

Northam asked to resubmit the paperwork to move the murder trial out of Tehama County. The judge allowed that request.

Bealer will be back in court May 12.

A judge will make the final call on where the case will be tried.
