Investigators say one of the two bodies found in a burned Anderson home had been there several days.
Fire crews responded to a house fire on the 3300 block of Thomas Avenue in Anderson just after 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
"I heard an explosion and that whole window blew smooth out, you can see the glass," said neighbor Larry Richmond so I ran back in the house got my cell phone called 911, came over here, tried to get in there couldn't get in there"
Richard Freitas also heard the explosion.
"I was sitting right there, reading the paper, and I heard a big boom. I come flying out of the house and smoke was coming out from the attic," said Freitas.
After firefighters subdued the flames officers form the Anderson Police Department entered the home and found two deceased people.
According to police there was an adult man with a gunshot wound to the head and an adult woman, both found dead inside the home. Investigators say the woman had been dead several days, and her body had begun to decompose.
"We're definitely not ruling anything out," said officer Casey Day. "On the male decedent, we did find him in possession of a large caliber handgun. He also sustained a gunshot wound to the head."
The man and woman were found lying in their beds in separate bedrooms. The man was found with a gun in his hand.
The names of the people found in the home have not been released.
