The mother of Joshua Verry, who was fatally stabbed Monday night is asking the public to help find his killer.
Officers were called to a reported stabbing at an apartment at 65 Mina Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Monday.
The victim, Josh Verry, 28, was stabbed several times in the chest and back. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to investigators at the Red Bluff Police Department Verry and another man were involved in a fight. During the fight, the suspect stabbed Verry several times.
"It's just awful," said Verry's mother, Judy Saunders as she choked back tears.
Surrounded by family she described what her son was like.
"He had a big heart and would do anything for anybody."
Saunders said Verry was her caretaker, who was a loving father to his five children who are all under the age of five.
She said Verry brought smiles to those around him.
"He was a big old goofball."
Saunders said her son loved to be with his children and go fishing.
On Tuesday police released a photo of person of interest in the case. They are trying to locate Jessie Robison, 37. Police describe him as 6'4", 164 pounds with red or auburn hair and hazel eyes.
Police thought he might've been accompanied by a woman, Chandler Annette Gloria King, 20, who is also known as Cee Cee.
On Tuesday afternoon the department confirmed they had found Chandler. She was not arrested and police are still seeking Robison.
"I just wish that anyone who had any information whatsoever would look and see that he has a mother and five children that love him very much and want his killer to be caught," Saunders said.
Police do not believe this case is drug or gang-related.
Police said you should not approach Robison. If you have information on his whereabouts, call the Red Bluff Police Department at 530-527-3131.
