REDDING, Calif. -

The Redding Police Department has released the names of three police officers involved in the deadly shooting of 22-year-old Ray Dakota Scholfield.

Scholfield was shot and killed Friday, June 20.

The three officers named are: Russ Veilleaux, Jason Rhoads and Josh Tracy.

Officers Veilleaux and Rhoads both have a decade or more of experience with the Redding Police Department.

Officer Tracy has been with the department for only one year, but has prior experience with the Pacific Grove Police Department.

Investigators said Redding Police were responding to a stabbing on Willis Street Friday morning when Scholfield came out of a home armed with a butcher knife.

Police fired when Scholfield refused to drop the knife.

Police found the body of 34-year-old Christen Allenclark inside the home after the incident. Allenclark had been stabbed numerous times.    

All three officers have been placed on administrative leave following the shooting.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
