GRIDLEY, Calif. - Two fires burned in Butte County overnight, keeping CAL FIRE crews busy. Both of the fires damaged buildings in the Gridley area.
A fire at a house at 94 Township Road south of Gridley started just before midnight. Fire crews said it was about 30 percent involved when they arrived. They contained it and kept it away from nearby fuel tanks and chemical storage, but not before the fire destroyed about half of the home.
No one was injured, the home was vacant at the time. Officials estimate the damage is about$150,000.
The other fire, just four miles away, damaged the Bungalow Bar in the 100 block of Virginia Street in Gridley. The fire was reported around 10 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters found a small fire on the roof of the bar. They put it out quickly, and damage is estimated at about $1,000.
