Changes Happening In Red Bluff Police Department

POSTED: 11:29 am PDT July 26, 2010
Some changes are happening in the Red Bluff Police Department, and officials say budget cuts are to blame.

With the current budget, two vacant police officer positions will not be filled. One dispatcher and one records specialist were laid off as well.

With the cuts that have happened, the Records Unit will be open to the public from 11 AM-3 PM on Monday-Friday. The public can still access the Dispatch Center by using a phone outside the window.

One of the officers that was assigned to the TIDE (Tehama Interagency Drug Enforcement) Unit will be pulled off to focus on patrol.

A couple new ways to file and receive reports will also be developed. One will be an online records request form for people who need reports from the Records Unit.

The other new system will be a form at the front counter for people to file reports for minor crimes, such as vandalism and theft.

The Police Department says there may be an increase in response times with the cuts that have been made. But they also say they are continuously working on making the department work more efficiently.
