4,450 large marijuana plants have been pulled by members of the Butte County Sheriff's Marijuana Unit.

Earlier this month, deputies in a helicopter spotted the garden in the Honey Run area east of Chico.

Monday, officers hiked into the area and found four different areas where plants were being grown. Officials say two Hispanic men ran from the area but officers were not able to catch them.

All four gardens were eradicated, with most of the plants ranging from 7 to 10 feet tall.

Officials say that anyone who sees suspicious activity that could be a possible illegal marijuana operation to call 538-7389.
