Redding Police say a fight over medical marijuana was behind a stabbing that has a Redding man in the hospital and another man in jail on attempted murder charges.

Around 5:15 PM Tuesday, officers say 43-year-old Patrick Wright was in front of a home on Meteor street and got in a fight with David Schroeder. They say Wright was stabbed in the stomach. He was listed in stable condition at Mercy Medical Center.

More than 100 marijuana plants were in the backyard of the home. Officers are still looking in to if the grow is legal.
