Police Arrest Two In Undercover Drug Bust

POSTED: 7:48 am PDT September 6, 2010
An undercover drug bust in Chico resulted in the arrest of two people Sunday night after a week-long investigation, police said.

Detectives met the suspects in the parking lot of Tower Mart at 1115 West 6th Street around 10:45 Sunday night. Chico police officials say the suspects had arranged the meeting in order to sell the detective ecstacy. Upon contact, authorities arrested David Pacheco, 19. They say Pacheco was carrying nearly an ounce of cocaine, among other items.

A second male was taken into custody for being in possession of 25 ecstacy tablets, according to officials. His name was not released because he is a minor. He has since been booked into Butte County Juvenile Hall.

Pacheco was transported to the Chico Police Department for booking. Upon arrival, police say he escaped the officers' custody and entered a nearby municipal building. Officers surrounded the area and apprehended him. He was booked into the Butte County Jail.
