CHICO, Calif. - The Aaron Rodgers' frenzy in the Northstate is growing as the Super Bowl draws closer. Rodgers grew up in Chico and now he's the subject of international attention as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. The Packers face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The green and gold of the Green Bay Packers is prominently on display across Chico as fans show their support for their hometown hero.
The campus at Pleasant Valley High School was covered in Packers colors Friday as the school celebrated the Super Bowl appearance by their most famous alumnus.
Students and teachers wore any Green Bay Packers items they could find. One student even had a Volkswagen Beetle repainted green and gold in support of the Packers.
Students like Karli Dominguez say it's the most exciting thing to happen at P.V. in a long time.
"It's a really awesome thing," said Dominguez. "We never thought anyone from P.V. would show up in a national game but it's quite exciting to be able to say he went to our school."
After school on Friday, about 200 students and faculty gathered in the gym for a group photo shoot and mini pep rally.
