RED BLUFF, Calif. - A burglary was stopped in Red Bluff by a gun carrying neighbor. The Tehama County Sheriff's Office said they appreciate the help.
Camron Crismon, 22, is the suspect in an alleged home burglary in the 200 block of Howell Avenue in Red Bluff around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday.
"He resides in the area and was able to case the place, decide what he wanted to take and set forth to do it," said Tehama County Asstistant Sheriff Phil Johnston.
Deputies said Crismon could be seen coming and going from the house with various items, all in the view of the next door neighbors.
"A riding lawnmower that he was trying to make off with, and a set of golf clubs and some tools," Johnston said.
The husband and wife family living next door called 911. The husband went to confront Crismon.
"A citizen, a responsible citizen and responsible gun owner, had essentially detained the suspect at gun point," Johnston said. "He operated within the law. People can intervene if they feel comfortable doing that. Obviously, this citizen had armed himself and felt comfortable taking action on his own."

Johnston said the neighbor was licensed to carry the weapon, used the correct restraint and kept communication with dispatch.
Deputies arrived minutes later and took Crismon into custody.
Johnston said what turned out to be a successful arrest is not what is always advised.
"I'd like people to be good witnesses, and let us do the hard work. That's what we get paid to do is to respond to violent people, to people that cause crime," Johnston said. "The citizen did what he thought was necessary and he acted within the law and it was appropriate. His response was appropriate."
All parties involved were uninjured.
Crismon was booked on charges of burglary and vandalism. All the stolen property was returned to the owner.
