Car consumed by fire after Oroville crash

OROVILLE, Calif. - A fiery overnight car crash in Butte County sent two people to the hospital.     

A car hit a power pole around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Lincoln Boulevard near Grove Street in Oroville.

The CHP said a Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the median concrete divider, punctured the fuel tank, hit a power pole and burst into flames.  The car was consumed by fire.

The driver, 22-year-old Vang Thao refused medical treatment.  Two passengers, 21-year-old Cher Thor and 21-year-old Peter Vang, were taken to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with major injuries.

CHP Officer Al Sanders told KRCR News Channel 7 the car left a trail of fuel stretching 300 feet down Lincoln Boulevard which burned in a line down the pavement.
