RED BLUFF, Calif. - Change is on the horizon for Vista Middle School this next school year.
A meeting was held by the Red Bluff Elementary School Board a few weeks ago. Votes were cast to change several aspects of the middle school.
According to one parent who emailed us, the school will be called Vista Preparatory Academy. The entire school will receive a new paint job and the cafeteria is scheduled to be remodeled.
Along with a new name, the school will incorporate a new age group – sixth graders.
These new middle schoolers being sent in from three surrounding elementary schools will increase the total student body from about 420 students to approximately 600.
In addition, all grades will return to a single teacher learning environment instead of their normal rotating schedule.
Finally, the school will get a new mascot. Instead of a Viking, Vista will be shouting "Go Eagles!" New colors will be implemented as well.
Parents are invited to attend a meeting about the changes at the Vista Gym in Red Bluff at 6 p.m. tonight.
