Chico police remember one of their own

Golf tourney raises money for law enforcement scholarship

CHICO, Calif. - Sixty-seven golfers took part Monday in a charity golf tournament that also honored former Chico Police Officer Lance Utterback, who died after a long battle with cancer.

The Lance Utterback Memorial Golf Tournament at the Canyon Oaks Country Club in Chico raised approximately $4,000 that will be used to fund a scholarship at the Butte College Law Enforcement Academy.

"He was a loving son," said Lance's mother, Terry Utterback, who was at the tournament.  "He was just what every mother would want for a son."
