Chico woman 'accidentally' steals cat, ad goes viral

CHICO, Calif. - A Chico woman is getting national attention after her Craigslist ad went viral this week.

The ad, posted in Craiglist's "lost and found" section, describes how the woman, who only wanted to be identified as Kendra, woke up Saturday morning to find a cat in her apartment.

In it, she claims she was "extremely intoxicated" the night before and thought the cat was "just some random stray (she) was rescuing."

Then the next morning, Kendra came to find out that it wasn't a stray after all, and it had a collar with the name "Django" printed on it.

She created a Craigslist ad in an attempt to find the owner that has since been reposted all over the internet.

"I was on this website called Reddit and I saw the post on there and somebody saying they found it on Craigslist," said Kendra.

Kendra told us that she thinks it's funny that so many people have taken an interest in her random experience.

"People were saying that I was a jerk and that I was terrible for taking this cat," she said, "and other people thought it was really funny. And most people were asking why I fed it cheese."

Other national websites like The Huffington Post" and MSN have also picked up the ad and re-posted it.

Kendra says what is perhaps most bizarre is that almost everyone seems to assume it was a man who nabbed the cat.

And the story has a happy ending, it turns out Django is her neighbor's cat and he saw the ad and got his cat back the very next day.
