Chico Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Mother

CHICO, Calif. - Twenty-year-old Jerusalem Torres was arrested for allegedly stabbing her mother, 36-year-old Alejandra Alvarado, this morning in Chico.

According to the Chico Police Department, Alvarado was stabbed in the home she shared with Torres on E. Lassen Ave. several times for no apparent reason.

Butte County Sheriff's Department responded to the report and detained Torres at the E. Lassen Ave. residence where it all happened.

Torres was arrested by police for assault with a deadly weapon and taken to the Butte County Jail. Alvarado was transported by ambulance to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. Her stab wounds were determined to be non-life threatening.
