Child struck by car at elementary school in Orland

REDDING, Calif. - A 6-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of an Orland elementary school Thursday morning.

According to a press release from the California Highway Patrol Linda Pankratz, 66, was traveling northbound through the parking lot of Capay Elementary preparing to exit the school when she struck a young student.

Police said Pankratz was looking at a parked school bus and did not see the child until it was too late. Her vehicle's left front tire hit the child in both legs causing minor injuries.

The child, who was not identified because if his age, was transported to Enloe Medical Center following the accident.
