CHICO, Calif. - Changes are coming to the corridors of City Hall in Chico, which has contracted attorney services after Lori Barker, the city attorney, announced her retirement.
Her last day is Friday.
Instead of hiring a new lawyer and staff, the city opted to do what some other cities have choose to do and hire a private law firm on a contingency basis.
The City of Chico hired the law firm Avarez-Glasman & Colvin, which has offices in Southern California and Napa County.
According to Avarez-Glasman & Colvin they have experience with other municipalities. The firm's retainer is $25,500 per month.
