Extra police patrols at big-box store, nets criminals

REDDING, Calif. - Anderson Police sent extra officers to patrol the area near Walmart on the 5000 block of Rhonda Road, early Tuesday morning.

The request for more officers came from Walmart.

Police say they arrested five people while patrolling the store's parking lot and business.

Anderson Police say three, of the handful arrested, were stopped by officers leaving the Walmart parking lot in a stolen vehicle.

Janell Wind Pickett, Michael Allan Harvey, and Zacharie Mencarelli were all arrested together, after Police say they caught them inside a stolen car.

Pickett, a 25-year-old Redding resident, was arrested for grand theft auto and receiving stolen property, a felony.

39-year-old Harvey, a Cottonwood man, was found to be on AB 109, Post Release Community Supervision and was booked into the Shasta County jail for receiving stolen property and grand theft auto.

Mencarelli, a 25-year-old from Feather Falls, was arrested for misdemeanor and felony warrants.

26-year-old Shasta Lake resident Michael Brian Chandler was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was cited and released.

Nolan Lee Taylor, a 29-year-old from Anderson, was arrested for an outstanding warrant. The Shasta County District Attorney's Office was also handed additional charges for Taylor, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia. Taylor was cited and released on his misdemeanor warrant.
