Deputies: Tehama County man exposed himself, tried to lure 5-year-old boy into car

RED BLUFF, Calif. - A Tehama County main was arrested, accused of exposing himself and trying to lure a 5-year-old boy into his car.  James Price, 48, was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

The events started at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday in the Bend area.  A woman reported a man had pulled into her driveway on China Rapids Drive in the Bend area north of Red Bluff.  Her 5-year-old son was playing in the front yard.  The man motioned for her the boy to get in the car.

The man was naked from the waist down, and touching himself.  The woman grabbed her son and contacted law enforcement.  The man sped away southbound on China Rapids Drive in a full size, burgundy colored Ford pickup.

Several law enforcement agencies responded to the call, including the Sheriff's Office, CHP Air Support, and the Red Bluff Police Department.

Price had been seen pulling into several driveways on China Rapids Drive.  Deputies said they located Price while he was trying to avoid law enforcement contact by travelling through fields and yards.  Upon being contacted and detained, items were located in Price's vehicle that led deputies to be concerned that he may have abducted a juvenile female prior to attempting contact with the juvenile male. .

As a precaution the Bend Elementary School was notified to conduct a head count of all students, and a door to door search of the immediate area was conducted.  No missing female juveniles were reported.  

He was arrested for indecent exposure (with a prior conviction for indecent exposure).
