McClintock was elected in Nov. 2008 to serve in the 4th Congressional District of the U.S. Congress. He served 22 years on the California State legislature before that. McClintock is the Chairman of the Water and Power Subcommittee of the House Natural Resources Committee and is also a member of that committee and the Budget Committee. He is a member of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands and the Subcommittee on Indian and Alaskan Native Affairs.

Gaines is a small insurance business owner. According to his website, his priorities if elected are to lower California’s deficit by limiting spending, to increse the number of private sector jobs and to oppose any bills aimed at raising taxes.

Griffith-Flatter is a Land Use Planner, a Policy and Program Analyst at Sierra Nevada Conservancy and a co-founder of High Sierra Rural Alliance. She said in a questionnaire from The Union Newspaper that her background in land-use planning would make her a valuable resource if elected.

Daniel Logue is a Republican Assemblyman who represents California's 3rd State Assembly district. He was first elected in November 2008. Prior to serving in the Assembly, Logue served as a Yuba County Supervisor. Main legislation he worked on: a private property protection bill, a bill on the Indian Valley Watermaster District, a Telehealth Follow Up, the Veterans Health Care Workforce Act of 2012, interest forgiveness on sales tax and a bill to prohibit alcohol on the Sacramento River.

Nielsen was elected as Representative of the the Second Assembly District in 2008 where he served as Vice Chair of the the Assembly’s Budget Committee and was a member of three other assembly committees including the Appropriations, Veteran Affairs and Rules committees. He wants to focus on cutting spending by eliminating excess agency and government regulations.

Harrington lives in Magalia, Calif. His past experience includes being President of the Butte-Glenn Central Labor Council from 1994 to present, being a Business Representative of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a Foreman for PG&E and a Navy veteran. He has run for the California Assembly in District 3, three times prior to this election. He says that his top priorities are jobs, education and universal healthcare.

Emery is a self-described family man, father, ranch manager, outdoorsman, and Northern California native with long-term vested interests in his district. The issues Emery is running on include: strengthening the middle class, bringing in more jobs, and giving local and state governments more freedom to govern themselves.

This first-timer candidate’s campaign slogan is “Bringing freedom, prosperity, justice and honesty back to California District 4.” Levine is vocal about his belief in maintaining the medical marijuana programs in California. He opposes Gov. Brown’s proposition to raise taxes and supports California High Speed Rail.

Reed has been the President of the Chico Unified School District Board of Education from 2008 to 2011 and a member of the school board since 2008. Reed is an advocate for a strong educational system but opposes excessive spending and taxing including Gov. Brown’s Proposition 30 tax increase.

A former major league baseball player, in 2006 Bosetti was elected to the Redding City Council, and Bosetti has also served as mayor of Redding. Bosetti says the issues he wants to focus on are: job creation, local rights (including property rights, prison realignment and forest roads) and a balanced state budget.

Dahle is a third-generation farmer, a businessman and he served four terms as a Lassen County Supervisor. He wants to focus on the state’s economic and budget issues. He is strongly against illegal immigration, he opposes plans to ship our water to Los Angeles and he wants to strengthen Proposition 13 property tax protections.

Chesbro served as a California State senator from 1998 to 2006. There, Chesbro chaired the Senate’s Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, Health and Human Services Committee, Standing Committee on Revenue and Taxation, and the Select Committees on California’s Wine Industry.

On Lynch’s website, he says that he advocates for term limits, open primary ballot measure and he would oppose AB2113 legislation enabling counties to impose an income tax. He would also oppose AB155 legislation hamstringing bankruptcy protections for cities and counties.

Rouse is an olive farmer, a U.S. Air Force veteran, a resident of Corning, Calif. and the Vice President of Corning Healthcare District. His top priorities if he is elected are police and fire protection, funding for education and state water issues.
