Before we begin, please, no one attack Olivia Wilde with acid.
The soon-to-be Mrs. Jason Sudeikis is a little worried about that happening in light of the backlash she's received from some Justin Bieber fans after she told the pop star to put his shirt on.
Specifically, she tweeted on March 2,"Bieber, put your f*****g shirt on. (unless you lost all your shirts in a fire in which case my condolences and please purchase a new shirt.)"
(A photograph of the 19-year-old shirtless in London, right on the eve of his birthday on March 1, had been all over the Internet at the time. Of course, he also posed sans shirt last week after landing in the hospital following a performance.)
Wilde's tweet sparked some hate from Beliebers, one of whom told her, "i'll punch you in your face."
When we caught up with Wilde and her "Drinking Buddies" co-star, Jake Johnson, at South by Southwest, we asked her what she did to get Bieber's fans so upset.
"I'm going to get attacked with acid, someone's going to throw acid in my face," the 28-year-old jokingly (we think?) responded. "If that happens there are 35 million Beliebers that did it, so find them."
But in seriousness, Wilde continued, she didn't mean any harm by it.
"You know, it's something I'd say to my to my little brother, and I probably have said it. You know, just, 'put your shirt on. ... It's cold out there.' I meant it with all the love in the world," she said. "It's pretty much the funniest thing that's ever happened to me, because my Twitter feed is filled with the most hilarious abuse."
Her co-star Johnson, however, would like to go on the record as not being on Wilde's side.
After repeatedly asking her if she was "nuts" and "crazy" for messing with Bieber and inviting the anger of his fans, Johnson gave Biebs a message:
"I'm with you, I'm not with her," he said of Wilde. "Bieber followers ... Jake Johnson's your man, I'm not with Olivia. Take your shirt off, whatever your gotta do Bieber ... Bieber we're homies. We're drinking buddies, pal."
