Exchange student riding bicycle hit by truck

CITY OF SHASTA LAKE, Calif. - A 17-year-old exchange student from Holland was struck by a truck while riding her bike on Shasta Dam Boulevard in the City of Shasta Lake Monday evening.

The accident occurred around 5:00 p.m. at the 4500 block of Shasta Dam Boulevard. The collision also knocked down a light pole that blocked part of the boulevard.

The teenage girl was rushed to a local hospital by an ambulance and officers on the scene were conducting a field sobriety test on the driver of the vehicle involved.

The teenager has been an exchange student at Central Valley High School for the past year. Her host family lives in the City of Shasta Lake.

Her host family says she may have had her hand run over and is expected to recover. Check back for updates as we work to learn more about this developing story.
