Adopt a Soldier Christmas program accepts donations

Deadline set Friday

CHICO, Calif. - This is the last week to make donations for the Adopt a Soldier Christmas program in Butte County.

The Adopt a Soldier for Christmas coalition has been collecting items to send care packages to members of the military serving overseas in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

They're looking for the following items:

-Beef jerky
-Protein bars
-Tuna lunch kits
-Nuts
-Peanut butter (small plastic jar)
-Salsa (small plastic jar)
-Razors
-Dark socks
-Nail clippers
-Foot cream
-Foot powder
-Shoe insoles
-Boot laces
-Q-Tips (small pkg)
-Wet wipes
-Hand sanitizer
-Sunscreen, insect repellent
-Lotion
-Lip balm
-Deodorant
-Batteries (AA, AAA)
-Sudoku, comic books

They request that you do not donate glass or aerosol cans.

Items can be dropped off at these locations:

In Chico:
Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Alpha Strong Gym, Chico Collision Center, Chico Community Church, Chico Sports Club, Chico State Vets Centers, Danielsen's Foods, The Elk's Lodge, Golden Valley Bank, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sierra View Elementary, Sweet Chico Confections, Sycamore Glen Community, UPS Stores, and Walmart.

You can drive up and drop off donations at the North Valley Plaza Mall parking lot behind Wendy's on Pillsbury Road from Nov. 13-17 between 6 and 8:30 p.m.

In Paradise:

In Biggs, Gridley:
The Flower Shoppe
Wheeler Ranch and Feed

All donations must be received by Friday, November 17.
