Fire burns Redding grocery store, suspected arson

REDDING, Calif. - An arson investigation is underway at a Redding grocery store chain.

According to the Redding Fire Department, the suspect intentionally started a fire in the loading dock area of the SAVMOR Foods on Westside Road around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Fire crews rushed there to find that it had spread inside the building, activating the sprinkler system, keeping the blaze from doing any more serious damage and containing the fire.

Officials said it was human caused.

The estimated cost of the damage is about $5,000.
