Redding, Calif. - Extreme heat can wreak havoc on your car.
Mechanics say the heat affects every system of your car, from power to air conditioning to general engine operations.
To keep your car running it is a very good idea to keep an eye on your coolant levels.
If those levels start to fall you could have a leak which can cause your car to overheat and could strand you on the side of the road.
Mechanics suggest getting a coolant inspection and flush to make sure your car doesn't break down.
And it's cheap to catch things early. A coolant flush and inspection will run you about $150, but if you let it go and your car overheats you can blow a head gasket, which will cost $1,500 or more.
