Hotel employee accused of raping a woman, holding her against her will

CHICO, Calif. - An employee at a Chico hotel has been arrested, accused of raping a woman at the Heritage Inn where he worked.

Chico Police said the alleged rape happened on June 24 at the Best Western Heritage Inn at 25 Heritage Lane in Chico.  The woman reported that she was held against her will and forcibly raped at the hotel. She was able to get away after the assault and made the report to police.

Chico Police detectives picked up the investigation. After a three-week investigation Agustin Valdez, 36, was arrested on Wednesday.  Police said Valdez had been an employee of the Heritage Inn at the time of the assault.

Valdez was booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of holding the victim against her will and rape.
