K-9 used to arrest wanted felon who tried to run from Chico Police

CHICO, Calif. - A Chico man is in jail after police say he tried to run from officers.     Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday police spotted wanted felon 34-year-old Dustin Garcia driving on East Avenue.  He was wanted on a parole violation and is a suspect in a previous vehicle pursuit.

Garcia pulled into a parking lot in the area where a Chico Police officer on foot confronted him.  Police said Garcia drove off, nearly hitting the officer.

Officers were able to stop Garcia's car and prevent him from running any further.  When Garcia did not cooperate with officers' commands, they used a K-9 to take him into custody.

Police said a loaded firearm and drugs were recovered at the scene.  Garcia now faces a series of charges including narcotics and weapons violations.
