VINA, Calif. -

South Avenue near Highway 99 in Tehama County was shut down Thursday morning after a vehicle towing a trailer lost control and struck another vehicle.

Around 8:20 a.m. a car towing a trailer was headed eastbound on South Avenue when it hit a guardrail and lost control about one mile west of Highway 99. The trailer the car was towing detached and caught fire as a result of the accident. The car continued into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle.

Both the driver of the car towing the trailer and the driver of the vehicle that was struck were transported to Enloe Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Power lines are down in the area due to the crash and crews are on scene to repair them.

South Avenue is estimate to reopen around 11 a.m.
