Three people have been arrested in Chico for numerous charges, including burglary and possession of stolen property out of both Chico and Redding.
Police first got the call just before 9 a.m. Saturday of a possible shoplifting in progress at the Home Depot on the Skyway.
Before officers arrived, the suspects allegedly drove away in a Chevy pickup truck towing a utility trailer. Police located that trailer a few blocks away in the parking lot of Safer Arms Indoor Shooting Range.
Inside the vehicle they found the driver 23-year-old Travis Blake of Redding, along with two other passengers.
Blake was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded handgun believed to be stolen in a burglary in Redding.
Police said the utility trailer was found to be reported stolen out of Chico on Tuesday. Also found in the truck was a laptop computer that was reported stolen out of Redding in September.
Blake was booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of taking a vehicle (the trailer) without the owner's consent, possession of a loaded firearm in public, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, and bringing a controlled substance into a custody facility. His bail is set at $78,000.
Another passenger, 24-year-old Dylan Joseph, was also allegedly found to be in possession of property stolen from the Home Depot. Officers also learned he had five warrants out of Shasta County.
Joseph was arrested for the five warrants, burglary, and false impersonation after he allegedly gave a false name to officers. His bail is set at $116,000.
A female passenger, 22-year-old Stephanie Donato, was allegedly found to be in possession of controlled substances without a prescription and possession of stolen property. She was arrested with bail set at $30,000.
Chico police are working with the Redding Police Department to further investigate the case. Additional charges may later be added.
