REDDING, Calif. -

The Shasta County Avoid the Six DUI Task Force conducted a Driving Under the Influence/Driver License Checkpoint in Redding on Friday July 5, 2013 in the evening hours.  A total of 761 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and were screened by officers.

17 drivers were stopped for further investigation, either at the checkpoint or by officers patrolling near the checkpoint.

25 drivers were given field sobriety tests.

2 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

1 person was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license.

3 vehicles were towed.

Two representatives of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) were present during the checkpoint.
