88-Year-Old Man Injured In Home Invasion Robbery

OROVILLE, Calif. -

An elderly Butte County man was injured in a home invasion robbery.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 6200 block of Carmel Avenue in Oroville.

Deputies said 88-year-old John Ayres was lying on his couch when two men came into his house and attacked him with a blunt weapon. The suspects then stole cash and other personal items.

The victim was taken to Oroville Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.  Detectives are looking into the possibility that the suspects may have known the victim.  Anyone with more information should call the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
