A former Paradise High School assistant coach accused of molesting a 13-year-old made his first trip to the Butte County Superior Court on Friday.
William Prinz was arrested on January 2 for three counts of lewd acts with a minor.
Prinz is the son of Paradise High Head Football Coach Rick Prinz. William Prinz is accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl in Magalia.
Detectives arrested William Prinz after the girl's parents came forward. The district attorney's office said the girl's father and Prinz were friends and he too, was drinking the night of the incident.
“[Prinz] was invited into the home and was drinking heavily. Unknown to the adults, this unfortunate and very serious incident occurred,” said Deputy District Attorney Kennedy Rizzuto.
Rizzuto wouldn't get into the specifics of the case but he said it happened after the girl went to bed.
This case resulted in a restraining order issued against Prinz, which forbids him from going within 100-yards of the 13-year-old girl along with another unidentified juvenile who authorities say is in elementary school.
Authorities said they do not know whether the second girl on the restraining order is the victim of a crime.
Prinz's attorney meanwhile said his strategy is to work with both families impacted by this particular case.
"We will act accordingly to my client's family and also with the victim's family in this case,” said Defense Attorney Denny Forland.
Prinz left his football coaching duties back in the fall and no one seems to know why.
“I know very little about this situation,” said Forland.
Prinz will be back in court for entry of plea on February 7.
