A two-acre vegetation fire kept Redding Fire and CAL FIRE crews busy Saturday afternoon.
The vegetation fire broke out a little before 12 p.m. between Branstetter Lane and Kenyon Drive.
"I was really scared. A lot of neighbors started pulling stuff out of their houses and packing their vehicles. I'm extremely grateful for all the firemen and their quick response," said Christina Joyce who lives in the area.
Although two acres sounds small, fire officials said they weren't taking any chances, giving the firefight a full court press.
Redding Fire Battalion Chief Steve Reilly said 12 engines, a bulldozer, air support, two inmate hand crews and a water tender were called in as crews battled the flames.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however officials said they did receive reports of teenagers smoking in the area.
