Amtrak Train Hits Car, Woman Killed

A woman is dead after her car was hit by an Amtrak train.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. at the crossing in the area of Nord Highway and Victor Drive in Chico.

Investigators say the woman, who hasn't been identified, drove her 2005 Toyota Prius onto the tracks facing westbound on Nord Highway. A northbound Amtrak train struck her vehicle, causing her to be ejected.

The woman died at the scene. It is not known if alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.
