Red Bluff Police announced today that Marysa Nichols, 14, died of asphyxiation by ligature strangulation.

At this time, the police said it will be weeks before the final autopsy report is released.

One week ago, Marysa Nichols, 14, was reported missing when she didn't come home from school.

On Thursday, her body was found near a creek behind Red Bluff High School.

Police arrested 39-year-old Quentin Bealer on a murder charge after he turned himself in for questioning Saturday morning.   He was booked into the Tehama County Jail where he's held without bail.
