REDDING, Calif. -

A baby boy was born in a Walmart bathroom in Redding early Thursday morning.

According to Redding Fire Department Battalion Chief Rob Pitt, a crew was dispatched to Walmart around 4:15 a.m. When they arrived, a baby boy had been born in the bathroom. Both the mother and the son were taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

Dianna Gee, a spokesperson for Walmart's corporate office said a customer helped assist with the delivery. According to Gee the mother and baby are both in good health. Gee said,

"We're glad mom and baby are okay." Walmart sent the woman a gift basket and flowers to congratulate her.
