RED BLUFF, Calif. -

Faculty members at Bidwell Elementary School put on a fundraiser at the McDonald's on Antelope Boulevard Wednesday night for the family of Marysa Nichols.

14-year-old Marysa Nichols was murdered last week.

Her body was found in a field behind the Red Bluff High School campus last Thursday morning.

Bidwell's principal, Claudia Salverstrin told KRCR News Channel 7 the fundraiser, which is called "McTeacher's Night," was originally planned to raise funds for the school, but they thought Marysa Nichols' family could use it more.

Nichols went to Bidwell, and her younger sister is a current student.
Bidwell Principal, Claudia Salvestrin told us the tragedy is affecting students on her campus. "I think it has impacted all the children at the site because they're well aware of what's happening in the community and so it's been upsetting to them to see what family is going through," said Salverstrin.

McDonald's is donating 20 percent of the proceeds from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to the Nichols family.
