YANKEE HILL, Calif. -

The body of a Stockton man who had been missing for five months was found buried in Yankee Hill.

In March 26-year old David Groves Jr. was reported missing to Stockton police. In August, the Butte County Sheriff's office started investigating the case based on leads that they received.

On August 28th, detectives served a search warrant on Lower Gulch Road in Yankee Hill. At the property they found a marijuana grow, a butane honey oil lab, several firearms, a stolen vehicle, and methamphetamine.

In the backyard of the home is where they found the body of Groves, buried under a fresh pile of dirt. His cause of death was determined to be from a gunshot wound.

The man living in the home is the prime suspect, 34-year-old Paul Edward Moreno from Stockton. Moreno didn't own the property but was living there for about one year.

Moreno has a warrant out for his arrest and is being charged with one count of murder and a felony charge for manufacturing a controlled substance, growing and selling marijuana, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm, and vehicle theft.

He is described as a white man, 5'9", 175 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff's Office, (530) 538-7671.
