BRUSH CREEK, Calif. -

Law enforcement officers in Butte County said they made a marijuana bust valued at nearly 5 million dollars.

Officers served a warrant Monday in the 12900 block of Oroville-Quincy Highway in Brush Creek.

Detectives located Rui Hu, 31 of San Francisco, and Harry Liao, 48 of San Francisco, inside the residence. Both Hu and Liao were armed with handguns and a shotgun.

One of the handguns had been reported as stolen out of a Vallejo residential burglary in 2011.

Evidence located at the scene revealed Hu and Liao were cultivating marijuana for commercial purposes. Detectives located two indoor marijuana grow rooms and three outdoor marijuana plots.

Detectives seized 1,212 marijuana plants with a combined weight of 6,280 pounds (over 3 tons). Detectives estimated the seizure to be worth approximately $4,848,000.

Hu and Liao were arrested for the cultivation and sales of marijuana and being armed in the commission of a felony. Bail for Hu and Liao is $115,000 each.
