Chico Police will be out in force Halloween night, keeping an eye on Halloween parties. They hope to prevent a repeat of the violence at Halloween celebrations over the weekend.
The numbers from over the weekend are staggering. Large crowds filled the downtown and South Campus neighborhoods throughout the weekend.
Officers responded to 871 calls from Friday through Sunday, including two assaults and two sexual assaults.
Police also responded to a kidnapping early Sunday morning. A 19-year-old woman told police she was walking near the corner of West Seventh and Orange Streets when a man forced her into an SUV.he was released a short time later. She was not sexually assaulted.
At about the same time Sunday morning, Shasta College Football Player Tyler Burton was assaulted on West 8th Street. He was critically injured after being punched and hitting his head on the pavement. He remains in critical condition at Enloe Hospital.
Chico Police will enforce a glass ban starting at 6pm in the Downtown and South Campus neighborhoods.
