Citizen Holds Suspect at Gunpoint Until Police Arrive
An Oroville resident helped apprehend a wanted suspect Friday night. The resident held the suspect at gunpoint in their backyard until officers arrived.
It started around 8 p.m. Friday night. A police officer tried to make a traffic stop near Washington Avenue and Yard Street.
Police said the driver Bradley McCurdy, 50 of Oroville, had an active felony warrant for him for violation of post release supervision. He failed to pull over for police, and was pursued by officers for about one mile before he pulled over and ran away.
A citizen later located and detained McCurdy in the backyard of their home in the 2200 block of Park Avenue. The citizen was armed with a handgun and held McCurdy at gunpoint on a back balcony porch until officers arrived.
McCurdy was later booked into Butte County Jail on the felony warrant, evading, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.
