REDDING, Calif. -

The prison realignment law, AB 109, which moves low level criminal offenders from prisons to jails, was the topic of discussion at a town hall forum Monday night.

More than 100 attended the meeting at First United Methodist.

A panel of community leaders, including Redding Police Chief, Robert Paoletti, and Shasta County Sheriff, Tom Bosenko took questions from the audience. Both offered their thoughts on the law, which you can see by clicking on the video link that's above.

Chief Paoletti also said he wants the communities help in cutting down on crime.

Paoletti told the audience to not create opportunities for criminals, which means not leaving valuables in your car, locking all doors to one's home, and consider getting a dog for your protection.
