Stabbing In Downtown Redding
REDDING, Calif. -

A Redding man was taken to Mercy Medical Center after being stabbed several times.  A convicted sex offender was arrested for attempted murder.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday at the Americana Lodge at 1250 Pine Street where police believe the victim lives.

Timothy Cox, 35 years of Redding, was taken to the hospital with stab wounds to his upper chest, back and hand.

Police said it started with an argument after Cox told Joshua James Anderson, 33 years old of Redding, not to speak to his girlfriend.

Anderson is a sex registrant and on active parole. He wears an ankle bracelet with a “GPS” locating device because of the nature of his sex crimes conviction.

Anderson was arrested for attempted homicide.

Cox’s injuries required surgery; however he is expected to fully recover.
