Corning Volunteers 'Pay It Forward' to Enhance Downtown
A group of people in Corning are taking matters into their own hands by giving downtown Corning a new look.
The group is called “Pay It Forward” and their goal is to make the downtown area the best that it can be.
"We want our business owners in downtown that have been struggling to be successful again,” said Lisa Rodriguez, one of the leaders of the group.
Members get together the last Tuesday of every month to talk about their plans for the next project.
So far, the group has painted some buildings and have cleaned up the streets. And businesses are enjoying the view.
Business owner, Hermila Ocejura said she is more than thankful. She said she has been seeing more customers come in.
"Customers come and see it clean and it makes them come back,” said Ocejura. “It’s not ugly anymore."
Volunteers are also enjoying the revitalization and they say they cannot wait to see it all come together.
"As you drive down Main St. and you see some of the positive changes, it’s so worth it," said Volunteer Patty Dicello.
