Deputies Track Down Pursuit Suspects in Cargo Container
Deputies tracked down a man and a woman after a pursuit through Redding. Brandon Lawrence, 27, and Brittany Zachary, 25, were arrested on a series of warrants.
It started around 5 p.m. Tuesday when deputies received information that Lawrence was recycling at North State recycling on Girvan Road in South Redding.
The sheriff's office had been looking for Lawrence for outstanding warrants and as a suspect in theft-related crimes involving the theft of scrap and precious metals in the county.
Deputies said Lawrence drove his SUV northbound on Highway 273. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle at Highway 273 and Clear Creek Road. There was also a passenger in the vehicle known to be Lawrence's girlfriend, later identified as Brittany Zachary.
The Toyota failed to yield and fled northbound on Highway 273, passing a car on the right and running a red light at Westwood Avenue.
Deputies said the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic on Bonnyview Road, then went up onto the sidewalk into the Redding Oil fuel station. It was last seen traveling northbound on Eastside Road before deputies lost site of the car.
A short time later the Toyota was found unoccupied at the end of Heryford Lane just north of Charter Communication.
A perimeter was established in the area with the assistance of officers from the Redding Police Department and California Highway Patrol Air Operations.
Shasta County Sheriff's Deputy Gerry Maul, and his K-9 Partner "Larus", assisted and began to track for the suspects from the Toyota. After approximately 30 minutes and an extensive ground search traveling through thick blackberry patches and brush "Larus" led deputies and officers to a cargo container located at the end of Bennett Lane off of Reno Lane.
Inside the container, Lawrence and Zachary were located and arrested without incident. Lawrence was booked into the Shasta County Jail for Evading with Willful Disregard and seven warrants.
Zachary who originally provided a false name to deputies was booked for Obstruction of a Peace Officer. Zachary was also booked later on several outstanding warrants at the jail once her identification was verified.
