CHICO, Calif. -

The lead detective on a sex abuse case involving a day care center in Chico told us today that he is positive the suspect they arrested is guilty.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old Thomas Lee Lewis, Sr., who helps run Grandma Linda's Day Care, was allegedly accused of inappropriately touching a 3-year-old child.

On Mar. 11, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the allegations.
The investigation involved a forensic interview with the child as well as an interview with Lewis.

The detective told us that Lewis made a virtual confession to him after being arrested on Mar. 18, saying that the lewd act came at the child's request.

He was booked into the Butte County Jail in Oroville and charged with oral copulation on a child under the age of 10.

This is not the first complaint filed against the day care. In Mar. 2012, there was a complaint filed that stated that the licensee, Linda Lewis', husband made inappropriate comments to a parent in from of a child in care.

The Lewis' claimed that the comments were taken out of context and the allegation in the complaint could not be proven or disproven, so no action was taken.

Lewis’ bail is set at $1 million.
