A family of ten people lost everything when a house Biggs was destroyed by fire Saturday morning.
The homeowner reported the fire just after 9:30 a.m. at 419 Aleut Street. The family told KRCR News Channel 7 they were running the washing machine and started to notice black smoke. The family evacuated and called 911.
Everyone inside escaped without injury.
Aleut Street was closed as 8 engines responded from Butte County Cal-Fire, Oroville, Biggs and Gridley. There were 24 firefighters on scene. They cut a hole in the roof to attack the flames.
The family said they lost everything, including furniture, televisions, clothing, family photos and other valuables.
Damage to the home is estimated at $300,000. Firefighters were able to save three cars. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fourth Street and Aleut will remain closed until 2 p.m. as firefighters finish their work.
